WORKING MEETING ON THE PROJECT “SUPPORT FOR DECISION-MAKING ON ATTRACTING INVESTMENTS BY WATER USER ORGANIZATIONS”

As part of the Ukrainian–Dutch project “Support for Decision-Making on Attracting Investments by Water User Organizations,” the first working meeting with representatives of the “Hradyzka” WUO (Water User Organization) was held on 2 December 2025 in the village of Borysy, Kremenchuk District, Poltava Region.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current challenges in the operation of the Hradyzka irrigation system, assess the opportunities and directions for its modernization and improvement of water-use efficiency, and identify potential pathways for attracting investments to develop the WUO’s infrastructure.

Nine representatives of member farms of the Hradyzka WUO participated in the meeting, along with experts from the NGO “Primavera” and specialists from the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.

Participants presented the current condition of the irrigation system, outlined key challenges, and shared their vision of necessary improvements. Among the main issues identified were the high cost of electricity, outdated infrastructure and significant water losses, unstable power supply, a shortage of qualified personnel, unresolved land-related matters, and the need to update regulations governing special water use.

Following the meeting, representatives of the WUO confirmed their interest in further cooperation within the project together with the NGO “Primavera” and the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of NAAS of Ukraine.
