On August 12-13, 2025, experts from the NGO Primavera conducted a working visit to the Nyzhnioselyshche starosta district of the Khust urban territorial community in Zakarpattia. The project, titled "Territorial analysis of sustainable agricultural practices and possible integrated water-energy-food-ecosystem solutions in Ukraine" is ongoing. The project is supported by the French non-governmental organization "Electriciens sans frontières" and funded by the French government.
During the visit, an interactive dialogue took place with key representatives of farms and household plots involved in various agricultural activities within the community. The aim of the visit was to identify suitable locations for the future implementation of agrivoltaic technology, which integrates renewable energy sources with agricultural systems and technologies.
Experts from Primavera conducted a survey among farmers, cooperative representatives, and household plot owners/ They also visited agricultural sites that could potentially serve as pilot locations for future projects, assessed the state of water resources and hydraulic structures, and preliminarily identified potential schemes for utilizing agrivoltaics.
The adoption of agrivoltaics will assist small-scale agricultural producers in enhancing their farming practices and promoting the development of rural areas, particularly in Zakarpattia communities. The implementation of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies represents an investment in the sustainable use of natural resources, which will contribute to rural development and the well-being of communities, especially the rural population.
