ROUND TABLE OF THE COORDINATION GROUP OF LOCAL PARTNERS OF THE PROGRESS PROJECT

 

On July 10, 2024, the first round table of the coordinating group of local partners of the PROGRESS project was held at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.
The round table was organized within the framework of the regional project "Preparation of Eastern Partnership countries for the European Green Course" (PROGRESS), which is financed by BMUV (Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection) and  implemented by a consortium consisting of GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation), OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), and IEP (Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine).
This project is a new addition to the portfolio of the Energy and Climate Cluster  and will be implemented from 2024 to 2028. The goal of PROGRESS is long-term climate change mitigation and sustainable development in Eastern Partnership countries such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

The event was attended by more than 70 participants, including representatives of the project Consortium, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, as well as national and international organizations, agricultural associations, universities, research, and professional institutions.
During the practical sessions, the director of the NGO Primavera, Olga Zhovtonog, presented and moderated a further discussion of EU best practices on resilience to climate change in the agro-industrial sector and an analysis of the challenges of cooperation in the agrarian sector in the face of climate change. The round table emphasized the critical importance of international cooperation  and the exchange of experience for the successful implementation of the European Green Deal in Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries.
