On August 27, Olga Zhovtonog, Director of the NGO Primavera, participated in a meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The central item on the agenda was a report by Mykhailo Yatsiuk, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Director of the NAAS Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation, on the topic: "Status and tasks of scientific support for the implementation of the action plan for the Irrigation and Drainage Strategy for the period up to 2030."
The report prompted a lively discussion and active debate, which was joined by leading industry experts, government officials, and scientists. Among the participants were Taras Vysotskyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine; Taras Kot, Acting Head of the State Agency of Ukraine for Melioration, Fisheries, and Food Programs; Ihor Hopchak, Head of the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences; as well as NAAS Academicians Raisa Vozhegova and Serhii Ryzhuk. Olha Zhovtonog also took an active part in the discussion.
In her address, Olha Zhovtonog outlined the importance of scientific support for institutional reforms being carried out in the state, measures to improve the state of water resources, and the technical provision for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine's melioration complex. Following the event, Olha Zhovtonog joined the working group tasked with preparing the draft resolution based on the meeting's outcomes.
