Determination of directions for implementation and further development of the Water Strategy of Ukraine

On February 2, in the format of an online conference, at the initiative of the NGO Primavera, a workshop was held as part of a short-term volunteer project to determine the directions for the implementation and further development of the Water Strategy of Ukraine, which was approved by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers dated December 9, 2022 under No. 1134.The Water Strategy defines the main principles of state policy in the field of water use and protection and reproduction of water resources in order to achieve mutual consistency in the use of water resources, increase the level of water security and minimize the risks of integrated water resources management. The adoption of such an important document was necessary for Ukraine to fulfill its international obligations in the field of water security, the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, and the UN General Assembly Resolution "Sustainable Development Goals by 2030".

Today's challenges will require constant response and appropriate improvement of the adopted document, which will directly affect its successful implementation. In particular, the director of the Primavera NGO Zhovtonog O.I. presented a presentation of the ideas of the initiative project on determining the directions of implementation and further development of the Water Strategy of Ukraine and proposals for organizing the process of its implementation.

Together with the experts of the Primavera, representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, the State Agency of Water Resources, the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, the NationalUniversityofWaterandEnvironmentalEngineering took part at the meeting.
