The public council at the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine held a meeting on June 27, 2024, in a hybrid format.
Deputy Head of  the  State Agency of  Water Resources, Ihor Hopchak, provided updates on the implementation of EU Directives related to water, necessary for Ukraine's EU accession.
Reports were presented and discussed on the effectiveness of natural-artificial biomelioration of water bodies, the restoration of the Oskil reservoir dam for water supply in eastern Ukraine, and the implementation of the Nitrate Directive to reduce water pollution from agricultural sources.
Representatives from NGO Primavera, Deputy Director Vitaliy Polishchuk, and expert Tetiana Matyash presented  information on the Public Water Initiative, its mission, and called for support for the PWI Declaration to assist in forming and implementing Ukraine's water policy based on water governance principles.
